If you find yourself joining the green movement, you may find yourself looking for projects around your house to help in this. One great thing is backyard composting. This is easy to do, and you will have natural fertilizer to use in your gardens to make them amaze your neighbors.

Composting is very easy to do. You can easy create your own bin or purchase a commercially available one. Either work, as long as you keep adding compost to them. You can easily add grass clipping along with dead leaves raked up during the early part of the year. Adding this yard waste will give your compost pile a good start.

Cool composting takes a long time to complete but is easy to do. Though a bit more difficult, hot composting is a good deal faster. Make sure to avoid adding weeds to a cool compost, as there will not be sufficient heat to kill the seeds. The best way to start off is with a cool composting system.

Orange peels, fruit, veggies, apple cores, and egg shells make wonderful additions as well. When added with your grass clippings, these items will not add extra odor issues unlike other items. Do not every add meat scraps, fats, dairy products as these will cause foul smells, and may attract animals into your yard that you really don’t want there.

Cold composting takes a while as said before but there are a couple of things you can do to help it along. Turning over your pile every so ofter helps to increase bacteria levels breaking down your compost faster. Night crawlers can also be added whenever you run across them. The will help your pile break down faster.

Once your compost has broken down completely, you will have a mulch that makes a great fertilizer for your gardens. This can be added in when starting new gardens, providing light soil for your plants to start growing in.

The beautiful country of Ireland is one of the best places in the world to consider if you are the sort of person who has ever had a desire to spend a couple days, a couple weeks, or a couple months taking a backpacking adventure. Once you pay for the airfare to Ireland, your costs on a backpacking trip will be minimal – but before you depart on your adventure, you will want to make sure you pack properly.

In order to take a true backpacking adventure, you will need to have a backpack that is designed for this – that is, a backpack that is both comfortable and sturdy. This means that you will want to buy an internal frame backpack; and when it comes to internal frame backpacks, there are a lot of choices and a lot of prices! If you are wanting to get a pretty good pack for a really great price, check out the Teton Sports 5200.

When you are backpacking, you are likely to get hot during the day due to all the physical exertion. This means that you should pack clothes that will be good for hiking and for sweating – sturdy shorts and short sleeve shirts. But you should also make sure you bring rain gear, pants, and long sleeves, as the weather in Ireland is cool and rainy for much of the year – especially at night!

You will also want to make sure that the tent you bring with you is truly waterproof, because of all the rain. Without a waterproof tent, you will have some miserable nights – and considering that this will get your pack soaked as well, you will have some miserable days! You should also make sure the tent you bring with you is lightweight, in addition to being waterproof.

Finally, when you travel to Ireland – regardless of how long you are going – you will want to make sure you bring your smile and your friendliness! If you pack all these things, you should have a marvelous adventure as you get to know the Irish people and get a chance to explore the Irish countryside.

It can be difficult and confusing to know exactly what you should do to get into college as you approach the end of high school (or as your child approaches the end of high school!). By using this simple guide, you will simplify the process of getting into college – making sure you know all the things you need to know, and breaking everything down so it is a lot less difficult and overwhelming.

You should get started as early as possible, preparing for college entrance – even as early as your freshman year of college – as this is the best way to be fully prepared. If you get started early, you will be able to sit for the SAT and ACT several times, and each time you take them, you will become more familiar with them. You can also make sure you will be taking college prep courses by the end of high school if you get started early, setting up your class schedules in such a way that will enable you to reach this goal. But you can still do just fine – even if you have not taken the time to prepare for college entrance so far in advance!

Get Good Grades in College Now!

The SAT and the ACT (that is, your performance on the standardized tests) is the main thing that colleges will be looking at during the entrance process. Too many people go into the SAT or ACT with no idea of what to expect or of how they should approach these tests – which leaves them with no idea as to how they might properly succeed. These tests will open doors for your future, so (especially if you have gotten started late in preparing for them) you should make sure you study as hard as you can.

Colleges also appreciate students who have been involved in some form of leadership or community service while they were in high school. Start making an effort to attend leadership conferences and events; join a club that will put you in a position where you can help your neighborhood or city; participate in youth groups and community events.

And finally, you can use a great college entrance essay to improve your chances of getting into college; make sure you take your time in writing this, and give them something good! Once you put all these elements together, your chances of attending the school that you want to attend will greatly improve!

When you go on a backpacking journey, there will be a long list of things that you will probably be aware that you need to keep in mind, but one of the things that people often neglect to consider is the manner in which they pack their internal frame backpack for the journey. There are two reasons why it is important for you to pack your backpack properly, and it will be important that you know what you are doing in each category.

Organization: It is no fun to get out into the middle of nowhere and realize that you do not have any of your materials packed in such a way that they are easy to get to; while the second category ranks higher than this one as far as importance, this one is still very important! You should make your best effort to pack “like items” together, and to make sure that anything you will need to gain immediate access to (such as your first aid kit or your snacks for the trail) are packed near the top of your bag.

Pack weight: This is, of course, the more important of the two categories, as the manner in which you distribute the weight throughout your pack will make a big difference in the way your body feels for days and even weeks after your backpacking journey is finished! You want to distribute the weight as evenly as possible from right to left, and you want to pack in such a way that most of the weight rests on your hips instead of on your back or shoulders. There is a common misconception that this means putting the heaviest items near the bottom of your pack, but actually, the way to distribute the weight so that it rests on your hips is to pack the lightest items at the bottom, the heaviest items in the middle – close to your back – and the medium-weight items on top!

Once you pack in this manner, you will be able to easily access all the things you need to access during your journey, and even after several days of backpacking, your back can still feel great!

Another great place where you can be alone and enjoy a bit of thinking in silence is on your back patio on a pleasant afternoon – and in fact, this can even be the case if you live in an apartment instead of in a house, as being “separated” from everything can feel the same as being in true silence.

And if you do your best thinking while you are moving around, there is nothing that fits the bill better than a walk – which you can do through your neighborhood or through a park, and you will be able to get your blood flowing and get your thoughts flowing at the same time.

Make an effort to start doing some thinking in silence, and you will soon be surprised to find what a difference this can make in the direction of your everyday life.

                                google_ad_type = "text_image";
                                google_color_border = "FFFFFF";

Are you familiar with what to do if someone is suffering from a stroke? Stokes are incredibly life threatening, and anyone suffering from one should be seem by a medical professional as quickly as possible. Strokes can be caused by a number of things, such as a blockage in the arteries in the brain, or even a brain aneurism (where a blood vessel in the brain breaks open). What heppens to the brain is that it is robbed of oxygen it needs and brain cells begin to die. The faster a person can get medical attention the better it is for them.

Some of the symptoms of a stroke include, slurred speech, inability to raise hands above head on their own, zoning out, very bad headache, and blurred or impaired vision to name a few. If you see anyone who is suffering these symptoms make sure to contact 911 immediately and do your best to keep them seated protecting them from falling down. If you are familiar with CPR you can see if the place you are at has a medical kit with a breathing barrier.

It can be common that the person will need breathing assistance.

With medical attention, the damage from a stroke may be minimized, but the effects of a stroke can be life long. Depending on location of the stroke will determine what type of damage is done. Some may have speech troubles while others lose strength in their legs and arms. The bad news is that once they have experienced damage to the brain, they most likely will never fully recover. The likelyhood of lasting problems is high especially after a major stroke.

Stroke prevention is extremely important. Trying to keep a healthy blood pressure, weight management, not smoking are but a few key factors to helping reduce the risks of stroke.

Many parents marvel at those children who have gone off to college and made decisions that will lead them toward a positive path in life. They will even go to the parents who raised these children, asking, “How did you get your kid to still make good choices even without any parents around?” After all, it can be both frightening and stressful to send your children out on their own – unless, of course, you have approached this point correctly!

When it comes to raising children who make right choices, the biggest key is examining where the control is coming from for these children. When it comes to the decisions that every person must make in life, the decisions must be made using either internal control or external control. Within parenting, external control occurs when you are setting boundaries and rules for your children, telling them what they have to do. On the other hand, internal control occurs when your child must make a right decision on their own. If you want to raise children who can make good decisions when they are out on their own, you need to raise them to have internal control!

Of course, this does not mean that you – as the parent – will simply start allowing your children to make all their own decisions. But what it does mean is that you raise your children to understand that, all throughout life, they will face situations where they must either make a right choice or a wrong choice. If they make the right choice, there are certain natural rewards; if they make the wrong choice, there are certain natural consequences.

As you apply this simple principle, your children will grow up recognizing the gravity of their own decisions, and the entire process of parenting becomes much simpler as a result. Even when you punish your children, in fact – after having applied this principle – they will (usually!) not be upset at all, as they will understand that they made a wrong choice, and that these are the consequences. And as your child moves further into their independence, this preparation you have given them to make right choices will continue to carry them forward into the life you envision them having!
